Alakh Pandey, commonly known as Physics Wallah, was born on October 2, 1991, in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh, India, into a middle-class Hindu Brahmin family. His mother, Rajat Pandey, is a housewife, and his father is Satish Pandey. Aditi Pandey, also known as Surya, is the eldest sister and the sole sibling of Alakh. Shivani Dubey is his wife. Pandey was engaged in June 2022, and on February 22, 2023, they were wed.
Alakh experienced hardship when, as a young child in primary school, his father lost his job as a contractor. For many years, his father struggled; his house and all of its land were sold; and the one scooter his father had was also gone. Alakh became aware of the ongoing financial crisis in India after seeing all this.
Pandey attended Bishop Johnson School for his elementary education. He never missed any school plays or drama because he had always desired to be an actor. He has also written skits and performed them at his residential colony with his sister and friends.
Later, he relocated to Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh, and enrolled at the Harcourt Butler Technical Institute (HBTI) to study mechanical engineering. He quit school after his third year, nevertheless, because he didn’t like the way his college professors taught.
Pandey, who is from Prayagraj in Uttar Pradesh, left college in his third year to work as a physics instructor at a school in Kanpur. While still in school, he began tutoring younger pupils to help support his family due to financial hardships.
He was urged by the director of the coaching center to launch a YouTube channel so that more pupils could access his courses. Following the instruction, Pandey launched his YouTube channel, which quickly gained popularity among students.

- Several former teachers claimed that students at their Kota offline class were not getting a quality education worth their tuition fee. And this made them resign. They alleged that the vision of the company is distracted.
- But responding on the matter, Pankaj Sijairya a teacher of the company alleged in a video that their three ex-PW teachers – Tarun Kumar, Manish Dubey, and Sarvesh Dixit were offered INR 5 Cr each to resign from Physics Wallah and join the rival company, Adda247.
- Aman Dhattarwal, a Youtuber also made a video accusing Alakh of making false claims of never stealing employees from other companies. He showed PW’s offers that were made to their competitors’ employees.
