Vijay was born on July 24, 1975. Vijay Antony pursued his education at various schools in Kerala and Pune. He studied at St. Xavier’s College, Campion Anglo-Indian Higher Secondary School, Tiruchirappalli, Trinity College London. He has graduated in English Literature from the prestigious Symbiosis Institute of International Business (SIIB), Pune. 

His journey into the world of music and cinema began when he moved to Chennai to follow his passion. Vijay Antony initiated his career as a 

sound engineer. He established an audio studio called Audio Infotainment and worked as a sound engineer there. 

He later became a music composer. He also worked as a jingle composer and music arranger before making his debut as a music composer in 2005 with the Tamil film “Sullan.” 

When Vijay entered the Tamil industry he had changed his name to Agni, but this was later changed by S. A. Chandrasekhar, who had stated that Agni was not lucky, decided to add his son’s Vijay (actor) name to the front of Antony.

In his illustrious career, Vijay Antony has composed music for over 50 films in various languages, including Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, and Kannada. He has also made a name for himself as an actor, with notable roles in films like “Naan” (2012), “Salim” (2014), “Pichaikkaran” (2016), and “Yaman” (2017).

Vijay Antony’s achievements extend beyond the realm of cinema and music. Notably, he made history by becoming the first Indian music director to win the prestigious Cannes Golden Lion for Best Music in 2009 for the song “Naaka Mukka,” featured in an advertising film. This catchy tune gained global recognition and even played at the 2011 Cricket World Cup.

Aside from his artistic endeavours, Vijay Antony is a successful entrepreneur, with ownership of several companies, including a recording studio, a film production company, and a music label.
