Anirudh Ravichander, the son of the famous South film industry Ravi Raghavendra was born on 16 October 1990 in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India.
His mother Lakshmi Ravichander is a classical dancer and he is also the nephew of Latha Rajinikanth. He is the grandson of a multifaceted personality S. V. Ramana, who excelled in making documentaries, commercials and music for the Indian film industry.
Anirudh was the great-grandson of director Krishnaswami Subrahmanyam, a pioneering filmmaker in the 1930s and his great grandmother Meenakshi was the first-ever female in the Kollywood industry to be a music composer. In short, Anirudh was born into a family in the music and film industry.
Anirudh was always fond of music. When he was 10 years old, he started composing his own music. During his school days, he took a part in his school’s band team called Zinx. Besides this, Anirudh also learned about Carnatic music, he also participated in a Carnatic fusion band.
After his schooling, Anirudh completed his graduation from Loyola College, Chennai. During his graduation period, Anirudh learned piano from Trinity College of Music, London.
After his graduation, he went on to pursue sound engineering at Sound Tech Media Institute of Audio Technology, Chennai.
At the age of 21, Anirudh landed his first-ever break in the South film industry. He composed the viral song “Why this Kolaveri“.
